The founding partners, Donald Wilson and Ian Tudhope first met in the attic office of a converted stately home situated near Edinburgh. The year was 1987: Ian was the in-house lawyer for a large Scottish private company and Donald was a newly-qualified accountant making the transition from profession into industry.
Ian subsequently moved into the world of property while Donald built experience in a wide range of business ventures, including a multi-location operation in New Zealand, which he ran before returning to the UK.
Between them, they clocked up almost 50 years in senior roles in which they were responsible for operational management; acquisitions, mergers and disposals; and property investment/development.
In 2014, Donald and Ian joined forces to create Barclay Gilmour Partners.
Donald is a Chartered Accountant and former CEO of one of Scotland's largest private groups. With vast experience of operating companies, he has led many corporate acquisitions and disposals. A former Finance Director of the Year, he also attended the Harvard Advanced Management Programme.
A lawyer by background, Ian has over 25 years' experience in the property industry. He has been involved in many development and investment deals, as well as projects in the general business arena.
Duncan has over a decade of experience investing directly in smaller companies, from seed stage to profitable listed firms. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Kerr has recently graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Marketing and Management. Since graduating, Kerr has helped Barclay Gilmour with market research and business analysis while also working on his start up - Cream Floats Ltd.
